Found within the Yellowstone River’s alluvial gravels. Montana Agate is characterized as having a red iron oxide and black manganese oxide, or as nodules of gray, semi-transparent Chalcedony.
It formed during the Pleistocene period. Montana Agate was spread out in a vast area spanning millions of square miles.
It can also be known as the Yellowstone Agate because of its origin that is centralized in the Yellowstone Park area.
A dendritic agate in colorless, black, yellow, orange, red, white, and brown. Beautiful color, banding, full-body dendrites with small spots of dendrites are possible.
Average piece is 1/2" - 3" long, variety in size and shape. Nice batch!
